Welcome to Comida! We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it. This Privacy Policy outlines the information we collect and how it is used. By using the app, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

• Anonymized Device Identifier: We collect an anonymized device identifier to authenticate your device with our servers via Firebase Anonymous Authentication.
• Food Photos: When you take or select a photo, the image is sent to our cloud servers for AI-powered nutritional analysis. Photos are stored locally on your device and are not retained on our servers after analysis.
• Meal Data: Nutritional analysis results (health scores, calorie estimates, ingredient information) are stored locally on your device using on-device storage.

2. Camera Access

Comida requires access to your device's camera to take photos of your meals. Camera access is used exclusively for capturing food images for nutritional analysis. You can revoke camera access at any time through your device settings.

3. Apple Health (HealthKit) Integration

Comida can optionally save nutrition data from your meal analyses to Apple Health. This feature is disabled by default and requires your explicit consent. When enabled, Comida writes nutritional information (such as calories, protein, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, and minerals) to Apple Health. Comida does not read any data from Apple Health. You can disable this integration at any time in the app settings.

4. AI-Powered Food Analysis

Comida uses AI services (via cloud functions) to analyze your food photos. When you take a photo, a compressed version of the image is sent to our servers, which forward it to an AI service for nutritional analysis. The image is processed in real time and is not stored on our servers after the analysis is complete.

5. Siri and App Intents

Comida integrates with Siri and Shortcuts to allow you to access app features via voice commands and automations. No personal data is shared with Apple beyond what is required for these system integrations to function.

6. Use of Your Information

• The anonymized device identifier is used exclusively for authenticating your device with our servers.
• Food photos are used solely for generating nutritional analysis and are not retained on our servers.
• Nutritional data written to Apple Health is managed by Apple's HealthKit framework and subject to Apple's privacy policies.

7. Sharing of Your Information

• Your food photos are sent to our cloud servers and processed by an AI service (OpenAI) for nutritional analysis. No other personal information is shared with third parties.
• Your anonymized device identifier is not shared with any third parties.
• We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to outside parties.

8. Data Storage and Security

All meal data, photos, and analysis results are stored locally on your device. We do not maintain a database of your meal history on our servers. The anonymized device identifier is stored securely by Firebase.

9. Changes to the Privacy Policy

Should there be any changes to our privacy practices, updates will be made to this policy. We recommend reviewing this page periodically for any updates. Changes become effective immediately upon posting on this page.
